How to Clean Anti-Slip Tape

Applying anti-slip tape is one job, but maintaining it is another! You must regularly clean anti-slip tape to retain its slip-resistant properties. Once the tape is clean, the non-slip properties return, and the floor tape looks brand new! This blog will guide you on the optimum cleaning method and other maintenance of Heskins non-slip tapes.

Necessary Supplies:

Brush
Warm Soapy Water
Edge Sealant (Optional)

Step 1 – Wet Bush with Water

Firstly, dip your brush into soapy water. Warmer water will help remove stubborn contaminants, such as mud, grease and oils, off the tape. Cleaning safety tape can also extend its lifespan, saving you money on replacement costs in the future.

Step 2 – Apply Firm Strokes Across Tape Surface

Brush across the safety tape’s surface, left to right, rather than an up and down motion that could cause tape lift. Keep rinsing your brush in warm soapy water and applying firm strokes to the non-slip tape. This process ensures all the dirt on the brush doesn’t contaminate the section of the tape you are trying to clean. Repeat this method until the tape looks new and the slip-resistant properties are restored.

Step 3 -Apply Edge Fix (Optional)

If the edges of the anti-slip tape are beginning to lift, apply Heskins H3502 edge sealant onto the edges and press it back down again. Edge sealant creates an additional impenetrable barrier, ensuring the floor tape is fully secured again.

What To Avoid When Cleaning Floor Tape?

We suggest using a wired, plastic or bristle brush over cloth, as cloth fibres get trapped and break off in the tape’s grit. Picking out the cloth fibre is notoriously tricky and could damage bare skin, so avoid this method.

Avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning floor tape, as they could affect the slip. Harsh chemicals could also impede the bond between the tape and the application surface.

Powder-based cleaning solutions may leave a power residue that could create a slippy health hazard.
