At Heskins, we understand that applying larger sheets of tape can have issues such as air bubbles forming or uneven placement. When writing this guide, we’ve considered problems that can arise during the application process, intending to help you apply the larger sheets of anti-slip tape efficiently.

Required Tools and Materials:

Before we begin, ensure you have all your equipment to hand, as delays in steps could affect the result.

Step – 1 Brush the Application Area

The first step would be to sweep all the debris away from the surface before application. Leaving debris could ruin the adhesive layer and cause it to stick incorrectly. A clean area will also help prolong the anti-slip tape’s life.

Step 2 – Use IPA to Clean the Area You’re Applying Tape

For this step, putting your gloves on is essential as some chemicals could be harsh. Then grab your IPA surface cleaner and cloth, wiping down the surface thoroughly. This step removes all the smaller contaminants, such as dust and grease, that will affect the adhesive layer.

Step 3 – Peel the Backing Layer of the Anti-Slip Tape

As shown in the picture, prepare the tape for its appliance, peeling off a small amount of the backing liner from the adhesive layer. It’s important not to remove it all, as the material could stick together and cause unnecessary issues you would otherwise avoid.

Step 4 – Align the Anti-Slip Tape for Straight Application

As shown in the pictures, the anti-slip tape is aligned. Use the edge of the applied tape to keep the tape sheets straight. From here, you want to begin slowly peeling away the backing liner while applying pressure until all the tape is applied.

Step 5 – Remove Air Bubbles with Seam Roller

Ensure there aren’t any air bubbles and that the tape is applied securely by applying firm pressure, using a seam roller, and rolling it along the non-slip sheet. This step also helps to prolong the life of the anti-slip tape. Removing the air bubbles makes sure the tape stays stuck to the surface.

Step 6 – Use Edge Fix to Prevent Edge Lift

Once the sheet of anti-slip material is applied correctly, it’s time to do the final touches. Get your edge fix tube and place a thin but solid line along all edges of the anti-slip tape, as displayed in the image. Edge sealant ensures the sheet of tape is fully secured down and stops any dirt or water from getting underneath, prolonging the life of the adhesive.
